Large Family Tips: Organizing Your Laundry Room

If you have a big family and your laundry room looks crazy, it’s time to get it under control. A lot of people think that just because they have a big family, their laundry room has to be in chaos all the time and this isn’t true. Learning how to organize a laundry room for a big family is possible and here’s how you do it.

Separate laundry baskets for everyone

If you have a big family one of the best ways to get laundry done and cut out a lot of nonsense is to have separate laundry baskets. Every single person has their own laundry basket and keeps it in their room. When it’s time to do laundry, it gets brought down to the laundry room. From there, the laundry is done, folded, and then put away. This helps to keep your laundry room organized all the time.

Keep all the junk out of your laundry room

One way to keep your laundry room organized is to keep all the junk out of it. Every time you bring something into your laundry room (that doesn’t go there) you run the risk of it becoming unorganized. The less junk you have, the more organized you can be. This is just an important fact of life that not a lot of people have figured out.

Communicate by writing notes

Did you know what people actually use dry erase markers to write notes on their washing machines? I mean, why not? You can tell a person in the family something that they need to do. Plus, you don’t waste paper. Plus, it’s pretty cool to be able to communicate by writing notes on the washer. This is a great way to get an important note across to the whole family. If you don’t want to write on your washer post it notes work great. Write a note, stick it on and then go.

Teach your children the way you want it done

Instead of doing all the laundry yourself and driving yourself crazy, have the kids help. If your kids are five or older, they can easily help with their own laundry. One person doing laundry is too much. Split up the chores and this way everything will be easier on the parents of the household. One way to do this is to assign a different day for each person to do their laundry. Each child has a day they do their laundry and the other days are for mom and dad and one day for towels and sheets. This alleviates the amount that you have to do.
