School supplies can be expensive.For many families it is a stress as they struggle to make sure their children do not go without. Fortunately there are many organizations that host events. At these events they provide as many as possible free backpacks, school supplies, clothes, and even haircuts. I have put together a list of places I know of in Arizona that provide free school supplies for school age children.
Events
All of these places are currently accepting donations. They are using these to be able to offer free school supplies to as many children in the communities as possible.
Tips to Remember
Each of these are volunteer events. If you can volunteer that would be amazing. If you can not they understand. But be sure to show appreciation. If receiving a backpack each child MUST be present. Arrive early as the lines get long.
Maricopa County
Adelante Healthcare: Various Days at their various locations. For Each the first 200 children get a free backpack
- Mesa: July 20 9am-11am 1705 W Main St mesa
- Surprise: July 20 9am -11am 15351 W Bell Rd Surprise Az
- Goodyear: July 27th 10am-Noon 13471 W Cornerstone Rd Goodyear Az
Salvation Army: Contact them and they will provide you with free supplies and backpack
Vineyard Church: July 13 Doors open at 8 am. Get there early as it is usually busy. Go to their site to preregister. They also provide haircuts and breakfast while you wait.
Faith Christian Center: June 22 10am-1pm 2640 E Mcdowell rd Phoenix Az Grades k-12 Free books, backbacks, supplies, food bank, carnival games, snacks, and inflatables.
Maryvale Community Center: August 3 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Maryvale Community Center, 4420 N. 51st Ave., Phoenix.K-12 for a back-to-school bash. The first 400 children will receive backpacks and school supplies. There will also be barbers and beauticians on hand for back to school haircuts and styling.
Teen Challenge Arizona: July 20th, Teen Challenge of Arizona will be giving away 1,000 Backpacks stuffed full of school supplies for Phoenix children at Equip Church. all are welcome! 1601 Grand Ave Phoenix Arizona 5pm-8pm
Operation Back to School Chandler: July 20 at Chandler High School- 350 N. Arizona Ave. 630am-1030am Operation Back to School is an annual city-wide effort to supply Chandler students with backpacks, school supplies, shoes, socks, underwear, haircuts, and more.
Tools For Schools: July 27th 7am-11am South Mountain Community College 7050 S 24th St Providing basic school readiness supplies for students whose families cannot afford any or all the necessary items to start off the school year.
Backpacks 4 Kids Az: Provides basic necessities to children in need. They will be opening a resource cented on July 13th. Check their web page for more information.
Streets of Destiny: July 27 9am-noon Streets of Destiny Church 3444 e Van BurenSt Phoenix AZ Free school supplies for the first 500 Kindergarten- High School students. Student Must be present to receive supplies
Tucson Az and Surrounding
Badges And Backpacks: July 13 8am-noon Tucson Convention Center 260 S Church Ave Tucson Az. Backpacks are first come first serve. They will have a health fair with immunizations, dental and vision screening and more. Safety station with fingerprinting, anti drug, gun safety, stranger danger, and bicycle safety. Family fun activities and promotions.
Marana Health and Safety Fair: July 28th 9am-11am Marana Middle School 11285 W Grier Rd Marana Az. Meet the Marana Police department. Bookmans will be there giving away free books and school supplies.

Back to School Health and Wellness Fair: 6411 N Robert Rd Prescott Valley Arizona 86314 August 1, 2019 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm Free backpacks filled with school supplies will be available until supplies last.
Pappas Kids School House Foundation: July 12 8am-12pm Coolidge performing arts 684 W Northern Ave Coolidge Az 1500 backpacks filled with supplies
