Confessions of a Quitter

flower

I am a quitter. I say it loudly because I am not ashamed of my quitter status. See recently I stopped giving a crap.  I realized instead of worrying about if people liked me or approved of me I needed to worry about why I cared so much. I needed to worry why their opinions were dictating who I was. So I decided to stop and I officially became a quitter. I have to say my stress and anxiety have reduced and I live a mucConfessions of a Quitter h happier life. So if you want to be a quitter too let me tell you how.

Quit Living in the Past

Embrace the here, now, and the future. Learn from your past but don’t live in it. You can not change what already happened. Asking yourself what if’s will prevent you from focusing on the future and moving on.What you can do is work for a better future. Things from your past will occasionally pop up or make themselves know. You do not need to let these define you.

Quit Dwelling on Things You Can’t Change

Life happens. Good or bad it happens and there are some things that you have absolutely no control over. When a situation occurs that you can not change then the only thing you can do is quit dwelling on it and change your mindset. Find the variable in the situation that you can control or can change and focus on that.

Quit Worrying About Other Peoples Opinions

This was the biggest thing for me. As a mom I have wondered am I good mom? As a person I have wondered am I good enough, what do I need to do differently. Well it’s time to stop! I’m not saying don’t grow and evolve. I’m saying don’t let peoples opinion dictate who you are. If you are holding it down don’t let anyone mom shame you. If you know you are doing your best and are a good person stop worrying about what people think.

I read a meme and it said I decided to stop worrying about what people think of me and focus on why I care. You can not control what people are going to think about you. Everyone has a opinion. Quit trying to mold yourself into what they think you should be. Embrace the powerful person you are.

Quit Overdoing

Everyone wants to be the best. I say focus on being the best for you and your loved ones. Quit spreading yourself thin and realize it’s perfectly OK to say no and mean it . Being a good person doesn’t mean always putting yourself last and overtaxing yourself. Say no sometimes and take some time from doing to just relax and get back in touch with who you are.

So yea I’m a quitter. But I see nothing wrong with it. I am more accepting of myself and am a happier, healthier person. It’s OK to be a quitter. Are there things that you would like to Quit? Make a list and then list how quitting will help you.

I definitely needed to hear this. I am one of the quitters too, but it has always been a point of guilt for me. I have never thought of it in a positive light. Great article.

Thank you. I used to think I should feel guilty also but then I realized that how much my stress reduced and how much happier I was. Less stress and happier allows me to be a better mom, wife, and friend. It can be hard but try not to feel guilty and try to focus on the benefits of being a quitter
