One of my favorite times of day is right before my sons lay down in bed. It used to be that I would read them a story or dad would but my littlest son started requesting Brudder. So now before bedtime more often than not my Aidan is found reading Alijah a bedtime story. This week the story was There’s Someone in my room by Tam Luc
At first, my son could not get his brother to sit still. The kid just wasn’t ready for bed.
But about a page in the story caught my kiddos attention and he settled right down. He was drawn in and listened with rapt attention.
Eventually, the book ended but my son grabbed the book from his brother turned it to the first page and began “reading” him the story. Now my 4 yr old cannot actually read but the book had gotten his attention good enough that h was able to retell the story back to his brother after having only heard it the one time. 3 rereads later he finally went to bed. My boys both loved this book. My 4 yr old gave it 2 thumbs up. The 10 yr old was not as impressed because he’s a big boy but he also said it was a good story and he liked it.
Both of them notice that the boy in the story was brown with curly hair. My 4 yr old at first thought the book was about him because as he says the boy looks like him. I loved that my sons were able to connect with a story in a multicultural way. They have other books that don’t have this aspect and they don’t mind at all but I especially loved that this time they found a character that reminded them of themselves.
As a parent, I loved the way my boys connected to the main character. The story was cute and amusing and the graphics in the book was colorful and engaging. My son loved the pictures and loved the menagerie of animals from his imagination. It was a great, engaging read. Mom gives it 2 moms thumbs up and 5 stars. I would definitely include this as a gift for any kiddos 4 and under. #boyomdaze

I should disclose I was requested to review this book. It is not a paid review and all opinions are my own and of course my kiddos.
This must be so wonderful to see both sons bonding in this way. Books and stories are always great to bring people together but doing this at bedtime as well makes it special. Lovely post and photos of the boys sharing together.
I love reading stories to my little boy!!
Such a great bonding experience for brothers my boys do the same!
How cute is this?! I read to my girls before bed every night and my three year old also attempts to read to us when I’m finished.
When my kids were younger we had awesomeness at bedtime. We loved the bedtime routine that always included books.
i get this!! my son used to read to my daughter too when he learned to read and for some time after that as well.. it was always wonderful how my daughter enjoyed her brother reading to her and his way of reading to her was just adorable.. i can see that here with your boys too
Wow, this book and its characters look quite alluring, more so when you see your kids engrossed into the world of fiction all of a sudden. Adorable sibling love as well:)
This book looks adorable! And I love the photos of your boys reading together- it’s one of my favorite things to see my kiddos do together!
