Arizona State Fair

Tapigami, Monster Trucks, Rides, Food, and King Tut. What do all of these have in common? They are just some of the highlights of the Arizona State Fair 2018. Each year my family and I pick a day to spend at the fair.

Arizona State Fair

The Food

Our first stop is always Piggly’s. It is a BBQ place on the South West side of the fair. Their turkey legs are huge and smoked to perfection.  They also have BBQ beef, Piggly fries that you can have bbq beef pulled pork or chilli and cheese on. Their prices are fair prices so be prepared to spend some money. For our family of 6 we spent 97$ yesterday but we got fries with bbq beef, 2 bbq beef sandwiches, a turkey leg, a veggie platter, and 3 small drinks.  We also always stop for funnel cake and Indian Fry Bread.

The Attractions

The fair has many concerts every year. There are also a rodeo, midget car racing, mechanical dinosaurs, farm animals, and street performers. Our favorite part of the fair is always the Monster Truck show. The 10000lb hound is one our favorite trucks. He reps for the AZ Humane Society. Its in the Grandstand and the stairs are a little step getting to the seats so keep a good hold on your littles.

The Rides

Each ride requires tickets. For smaller rides it starts at about 7 tickets. Other rides go up to 20 tickets. There are days Thursdays and Sundays that you can get a all day ride wristband for 50$ and  specials on other days so make sure to check out their deals page. There are rides for all ages and sizes. If you have a kiddo on the smaller side there is even a section for smaller children.

The Shopping

At the Arizona State Fair you will find shopping every few steps. There are clothes, souvenirs, caricatures and more. We always stop by Keystone Body Therapies for a 30 minute massage.  You can get a haircut, see or make arts and crafts, buy jewelry, or just browse. One of our favorite things this year was the Tapigami. They made a complete world including a star destroyer out of masking tape. Very cool stuff.

The Arizona State Fair comes once a year and we go every year. It can be pricey but if you find one of the days there is a deal going on it can help cut the cost. They even have programs like read to ride sponsored by APS where your kiddo can earn 3 free rides for reading 3 books and filling out a form with a synopsis or drawing for the younger ones. There is so much to see and do and sure to be a fun day for the entire family.
