My Review: The Temple of the Crystal Timekeeper

Recently I was given the opportunity to read The Temple of the Crystal Timekeeper by Fiona Ingram.

About the Author

Fiona Ingram is a children’s author, My Review: The Temple of the Crystal Timekeeper but up until a few years ago, she was a journalist and editor. Something rather unexpected sparked her new career as an author—a family trip to Egypt with her mother and two young nephews. They had a great time and she thought she’d write them a short story as a different kind of souvenir…. Well, one book and a planned book series later, she had changed careers. She has now published Book 3 (The Temple of the Crystal Timekeeper) in her middle grade adventure series Chronicles of the Stone, with many awards for the first book,
The Secret of the Sacred Scarab, and a few for Book 2, The Search for the Stone of Excalibur, and one already for Book 3! She also teaches online novel writing for aspiring authors and she finds that very satisfying. Relaxation time finds her enjoying something creative or artistic, music, books, theatre or ballet. She loves doing research for her book series. Fiona loves animals and has written two animal rescue stories. She has two adorable (naughty) little dogs called Chloe and Pumpkin, and a beautiful black cat called Bertie.

My Review

This was a book geared towards children so I enlisted my boys. I read it with my 4 and 11 yr old. My boys loved it. We read a little each evening. Then one night as I was reading my 11 yr old excitedly told me what happened next. The stinker had snuck and read ahead without us.  He said he just could not wait until the next day to find out what happened and ended up reading the entire book. We all were interested and loved the entire book. It was a great way to incorporate family time with something fun.

My son said in regards to the book he loved that it not only was entertaining but it included historical information about the Aztecs and that was his favorite part.

If you want a book that is not only semi educational but entertaining then this is a great book to read with your kiddos.

Many thanks for such a lovely review! The ‘little stinker’ sounds like my kind of reader. i think I’d also read ahead. And I am glad he enjoyed the historical bits. The Aztecs and the Maya are still my favourites (in a long list of favourites!). Please email me if you’d like pdfs of books 1 and 2 to start the adventure at the very beginning.

I would be delighted to send you the pdfs and please consider posting reviews on Amazon to encourage other adventurous young readers. And definitely, once you know how the adventure starts, he’ll be hooked on the remaining books (which I am busy writing!).

I have always loved books that teach about new things along with story telling. This seems like a great read to kids of diff ages. I’ll have to pick it up for my 4,8 year old.

This is the kind of adventure that sucks kids in and carries them off to extraordinary events and lands unknown. They learn as the heroes do so they truly feel part of the action!
