Natural Pain Relief Cream

So if you know my family personally you know I’m clumsy, the hubby works hard, we have a football player, and 2 gangly teens. That being said there’s alot of bumps and bruises and sore muscles happening here. When football season started I was going broke keeping muscle pain relief cream stocked up. Then I had a epiphany!! Why not make it myself. I make just about everything else myself from body butters, lotions, hair product, immune boosting items, cough syrup so why not pain relief cream. It took some trial and error but I found 2 recipes that have worked for my family. Disclaimer: I am not a doctor or health care practitioner. Always ask a doctor first. Make sure to do a skin test on a small area to make sure you do not have any reactions as everyone responds to oils differently

Cayenne Pepper Warming muscle Rub

This one is my husbands favorite. He does remodels so a warming rub that really penetrates is awesome for him.

Disclaimer: Make sure to wear gloves when making this. Also do NOT apply to broken or scratched skin because as I learned it Will burn. I also wear a face mask when making it because the cayenne can be startling 🙂

Ingredients

2 tablespoons Cayenne Pepper ( increases blood flow and stimulates circulation)

1/2 cup coconut oil

1/2 cup shea butter ( I prefer the yellow and make sure its a good brand or you can get a chunky kind)

2 tbls grated beeswax

40 drops copaiba essential oil

50 drops peppermint essential oil

50 drops eucalyptus essential oil

30 drops rosemary essential oil (optional)

10 drops lemon essential oil (optional) My hubby just likes the smell so I add it to help him relax for the massage

Directions

I use a double boiler but if you don’t have one you can use 2 pots so long as one fits inside the other.

Combine the coconut oil and cayenne in double boiler and let it slightly warm

When it is slightly warm stir and set it aside for 30 min

After 30 min slightly warm again then set aside ( I do this about 4 times to really infuse the coconut oil with the cayenne)

Using a cheesecloth strain the cayenne out of the oil into a 1/4 cup measuring cup add more coconut oil if needed to bring it up to the 1/4 cup mark

Melt the beeswax and shea butter together

Add the infused coconut oil to the beeswax and shea butter mix and add all your essential oils

Pour in a container with a tight lid and store in a cool place

Use as needed. Make sure to do a skin test before using as some people are more sensitive

Easy Peasy Don’t want to take 2 hrs to make Rub
